Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige participated in a Reddit AMA this week, where he teased new characters would soon be introduced to the MCU.
In the AMA, Feige touched upon everything from Stan Lee to the gamble of hiring Robert Downey Jr., giving fans terrific insight into the journey over the past ten-plus years. While many of Feige's answers focused on the past, he also teased the future.
When asked about whether or not we'd see new characters in Phase 4 of the MCU, Feige confirmed in the affirmative.
"There are many Marvel characters that I've loved for many years that are heading to the MCU soon, but I can't be more specific than that," Feige said.
Luckily, fans may not have to wait much longer to find out what's ahead for the MCU. We know that an extensive roadmap is already being planned, and we have a vague idea of what movies might be on the way. More information will likely be revealed following the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hits theaters on July 2.
A handful of sequels are expected to come in Marvel's immediate future, including Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. We're also expecting a solo movie starring Black Widow and a film that focuses on The Eternals.
Additionally, Marvel could be gearing up to introduce X-Men and the Fantastic Four, now that its deal with Fox has closed. These characters are widely expected to play a major role in the future of the MCU.
Whatever the future holds for the MCU, Feige said his goal is to introduce characters who people can relate to.
"It's about finding the most resonant character stories to bring to the big screen," Feige said.
