The Eternals is going to be among the next wave of new MCU movies, with production to start in 2019, according to a new report.

Marvel’s plans beyond 2019 has been quite the mystery, but more details have surfaced over the past few weeks that give us a good idea of what to expect. Doctor Strange 2 and Black Widow are certainly in the studio’s plans and so is another project: The Eternals. We’ve know for a time The Eternals would be adapted for the big screen, we just didn’t know when. Now, a new report is revealing the movie will enter production in 2019.

According to The Hashtag Show’s Charles Murphy, The Eternals is “on the books” to enter production in September 2019 with a release date set for 2020.

There has been no confirmation from Marvel  Studios on the news and that likely won’t happen until deep into 2019 as it puts its focus on making sure Avengers 4  is another monster hit and then embarking on the soft reboot of the franchise into Phase 4. However, if the report is to be believed, The Eternals already seems to be deep in development.

Again, nothing is definitive at this point with Marvel’s lack of updates on its movie slate beyond 2019, but adapting The Eternals seems like a logical move. With Guardians of the Galaxy and now Captain Marvel, the MCU is really moving toward exploring its cosmic side. Making The Eternals seems like a great way to expand the MCU horizon.
