Dragon Quest Slimes

We've known for a while that Square Enix has been working on something big for Dragon Quest, hinted at by the string of announcements and the incoming 30th anniversary, and we just might find out exactly what that is on Tuesday. Square Enix has announced plans through Jump! magazine for a major livestream presentation next Tuesday, July 28.

What exactly will be shown? My guess is that Square Enix has quite a few announcements. The majority of Jump's segment focuses on Dragon Quest Heroes II, which finally has a subtitle: Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End. The game will feature a new story, but it also sees the first game's villain return. Dragon Quest's Yuji Horii also chimed in.

"Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End has a different world view from the previous game, and through that a new story will begin. Please look forward to a dramatic story. The 'giant monsters and crowds of monsters-battle action' that was so popular in the previous game is powered up, of course. There are new ways to play and additions planned, so please look forward to more news."

Jump! also claims that it will have information on "that big title, finally" in its Aug. 3 issue, its last major Dragon Quest feature issue. I can only assume this mystery title is Dragon Quest XI, because that's the only major title we have nothing about yet. Chances are we get a reveal trailer in this presentation.

Beyond those two games, we will probably see the gameplay debut of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 for the Nintendo 3DS, Dragon Quest Builders for the PS Vita, PS3, and PS4, and the recently announced Dragon Quest of the Stars for iOS and Android. The Dragon Quest VIII Nintendo 3DS remake, bound for Japan on Aug. 27, will also show up.

You can bet I'll be catching it! Be prepared to wake up Tuesday morning with a whole host of Dragon Quest news. You know I never get tired of writing it.
