Next Issue for iPad

Next Issue, which has been described as a Netflix for magazines, is a subscription service that gives you access to a library of popular magazines for a set monthly fee. Subscribers gain unlimited access to all publications, so you can read as much as you like, as often as you like, without paying a penny extra.

The service has already been available to Android users for around three months, and this week, Next Issue makes its debut on the iPad with a catalog of 39 titles, including The New Yorker, Esquire, Fortune, GQ, People, TIME, Sports Illustrated, Vanity Fair, and more.

Subscriptions start at $10 per month, and for that you gain unlimited access to all monthly and bi-weekly magazines. Alternatively, you can sign up for the $15 per month subscription which gives you everything you get with the $10 plan, plus access to all the tabloids and weeklies, too.

According to Engadget, Next Issue is also planning to double its existing catalog by the end of the year, and strike new deals with new publishers.

There are some caveats to the service, however. Engadget notes that it's up to providers which platforms their publications appear on, and so there could be magazines on the Android version of Next Issue that are not on the iOS version. In addition to that, Apple's App Store rules mean that you cannot purchase your subscription on the iPad itself; you'll need to visit the Next Issue website in a web browser instead.

Other than those very minor provisos, Next Issue appears to be a terrific app if you're a magazine buff.
