Costco began offering Macs though its online store starting today for the first time. Among the available Mac computers are the MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac, with discounts that get as high as $200.
The base MacBook Air with the 8th generation Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which normally retails for $1,199 through Apple, is available for $999. That’s the biggest discount Costco is offering. Other computers get varying levels of discounts down to $50.
Among the different trims Costco is offering, some come with AppleCare+ bundled into the price. The base MacBook Air with AppleCare+ costs $1,379, which is a savings of $70 compared to the pricing Apple offers. The only catch to the deal is that you must be a Costco member to take advantage of the discounted Mac pricing.
Pre-orders for Macs can now be placed and shipments are expected to begin December 17 with in-store pickup as an option. It remains unclear if Costco will offer the computers at its brick and mortar stores.
