MacBook Pro openAfter tons of rumors, Apple did indeed introduce a MacBook Pro with a Retina Display today at WWDC 2012.

The new MacBook Pro is measuring in at a mere .71-inches thick, making it as thin as the MacBook Air, and it will weigh under 4.5 lbs.  The screen measures 15.4-inches and will sport a whopping 2880 x 1800 pixels with a ppi of 220, making it the highest resolution notebook in history.

As one would expect, the optical drive is gone in this new model.

The new laptop will support up to 16GB of RAM, come with Intel i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processors, have an HDMI port, USB 2 and 3 support, two Thunderbolt ports and an SD card slot.  There will be no FireWire 800 or Ethernet port, but there will be adapters for both that can plug into the Thunderbolt ports.

The starting price for this?  With 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD will set you back $2,199 and will begin shipping today.
