The Lumia 950 XL won’t actually launch until next month, but Microsoft may already be running into issues with its Windows 10 phablet. Demo versions of the device are apparently being pulled from stores due to an issue with the hardware.
WinBeta reports that all Microsoft stores are pulling the Lumia 950 XL from their shelves and shipping the devices back to corporate headquarters. That suggests there’s something wrong with the physical hardware. After all, an issue with Windows 10 or even the phone’s firmware could probably be fixed remotely. Hopefully this won’t affect the phone’s planned launch in November, though Microsoft still hasn’t said exactly when that will be.
The Lumia 950 XL packs some pretty powerful hardware, including a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a 20-megapixel rear camera, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 32GB of expandable storage, 3GB of RAM and a 3340mAh battery. It also runs Windows 10 with Cortana, Continuum and Windows Hello.
We spent a little time with the new phone earlier this month, but we’re excited to really dive in as soon we can. For now we’re keeping our fingers crossed Microsoft can sort this issue out soon.
