Microsoft announced two new smartphones during its Mobile World Congress 2015 press conference, including the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL. We had a chance to check out both devices, but we’re particularly attracted to the Lumia 640.

First, the colors are stunning. Microsoft is going to sell them in beautiful and bright cyan and neon orange, and the orange one is drop-dead gorgeous. It stands out among competitors, and the edges have an almost gummy-bear look to them. The device features a 5-inch 1280 x 720-pixel display, a Snapdragon 400 processor, just 8GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot for adding up to 128GB of additional storage, an 8-megapixel camera and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s loaded with Windows Phone 8.1 right now, but Microsoft said it will update the device to Windows 10 for phones later this year.

Sure, the phone doesn’t have the latest and greatest specs, and we’re still waiting to see what Microsoft has in store in the way of a new flagship, but the Lumia 640 is a promising new device that’s attractive and fun. See it for yourself in our hands-on video above.
