One of the biggest question marks of the year continues to be Lost Planet 3. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a game which could lean so significantly towards being an excellent game or being a flat out dud.

On one hand, most of Capcom’s games that have been outsourced to Western studios have not turned out to be up to par with the company’s rich legacy. Add to the fact that developer Spark Unlimited does not have the best resume in the world.

On the other hand though, screenshots and trailers have looked amazing so far. Spark Unlimited has gone above and beyond in capturing the essence of a frozen planet and the miserable lives those who live on it must endure. I can see the stress in their faces.

I’m leaning towards the cautious side, but that just means my expectations will be met double if it proves the odds wrong and is really a fantastic game.

Expect more on Lost Planet 3 at E3 this week. Capcom will certainly have this game as a huge highlight considering the game was delayed to August 27th for more chances to showcase it off. It will be released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
