There is no Facebook Phone. There will be no Facebook Phone. There are dozens of Facebook Phones.

Following consumer electronics is a bit of a guessing game, and nowhere are the key players more careful with their forward-looking statements than in mobile. Mobile’s hot, mobile changes daily, and mobile is literally built around an upgrade cycle that woos consumers into buying new smartphones long before they’ve actually outgrown their old ones. So it’s not like executives are always going to be 100% on the level when talking about their mobile plans.

That said, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has gone on record saying they’re not building a mobile phone, but rather trying to integrate “a social layer” (i.e. Facebook) deeply into many different devices. So there won’t be a Facebook phone, but eventually they all might be Facebook phones. Like the HTC ChaCha(Cha) and Salsa.

And like the INQ Cloud Touch, aka “The Facebook Phone” (yeah, I know, groan), which is now on sale in the UK. Cloud Touch is Android-based but features a customized install with a live Facebook feed on the homescreen, including Facebook Places and Chat. As per the Carphone Warehouse Website, where the device is currently an exclusive:

Cloud Touch brings your Facebook updates to life in pictures, YouTube™ clips and text. The live news feed is always updating. You can easily tap into Facebook chat and start a conversation, or let everyone know where you’re at with Facebook Places.

Featuring a modest 320 x 480 touchscreen, 5MP camera and Android 2.2 powered by an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor, Cloud Touch slots in as a mid-level Android phone, spec-wise. But it’s the deep Facebook integration that really sets this phone apart from the pack. Cloud Touch is on sale now in the UK for £299.95 ($489 USD) contract-free, or for free with an £18/month ($29) carrier plan.

Would any of you be swayed towards a new phone based more on Facebook integration than spec sheet stats? What about a phone built to work with Twitter? Or, say, Amazon?
