I’ve been commenting on the weight of all these free games Sony has been throwing at us, but a few grueling minutes of serious house cleaning later, and I have effectively deleted all the games I probably won’t be getting around to. With that said, here is Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut.
This indie survival-horror gem is unique in its classic pixelated look, a style not utilized for the genre since the days of the Super Nintendo. Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut offers players multiple paths and ways to play through its four hour campaign. A masked protagonist must escape from a city ravaged by disease, and he begins to lose his mind and his grasp on reality.
Just like its classic look suggests, Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut game also reignites the structure of video games where you play through the short campaign many times rather than slog through a long, overly-bloated campaign once and never look at it again. If you have a backlog of games, this is the perfect option to get a few quality hours of something new before hacking away at your latest AAA time sink.
Also, Binary Domain is getting the axe this week and will be cut from the Instant Game Collection. It’s not the best game in the world by any means, but it’s an interesting spin on the modern day cover-based shooter from the guys who brought you the Yakuza series. It might be worth checking out. Be sure to download it before the PlayStation Store updates today.
