LG’s V series has been a unique bright spot in the mobile world. The past two iterations have donned the extra OLED display that shows off pertinent information. It’s a awkward look, but certainly noteworthy. This year, LG has decided to take a more mainstream approach with the V30.
With the V30, LG completely departed from the V20’s aluminum build in a new direction. Gone is the extra display and that space is filled up with a 6-inch FullVision OLED display that accounts for an impressive 82% screen-to-body ratio. It’s also the first OLED display LG has put in a phone since the Flex 2, and thus offers fantastic contrast and vivid colors.
LG outfitted the V30 with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 13MP dual camera, 3,300mAh battery and IP68 water and rust resistance.
Next to the V30, the V20 looks woefully outdated. Its funky second display looks misaligned and aesthetically deprived when compared to the perfectly sculpted display on the V30. Aside from the difference in metal and glass, the backs of the V20 and V30 feature the same placement of the camera and fingerprint scanner.
Inside, that’s where the V20 holds up better. The Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, 16MP camera and 3,200mAh battery are still comparable to the V30’s upgrades. It’s impossible to keep up with a brand new phone, but the V20 does its best and still proves to be a solid, if not unconventional, device.
See how the V30 and V20 compare in the chart down below.
