LG Optimus Q2

LG has today unveiled the LG Optimus Q2 Android handset, and for those of you who love physical QWERTY keyboards, the Optimus Q2 looks like a must-have. Not only does it boast a slide-out keyboard, but this device is rocking a super speedy 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and a stunning 4-inch IPS LCD display.

The Optimus Q2 will be launching in South Korea next week, and at the moment there's no indication of U.S. or European launch dates and pricing. However, this looks like a handset that's worth looking forward to. That Tegra 2 chip makes the Optimus Q2 faster than its Optimus 3D and Optimus 2X cousins, and it features Wi-Fi Direct technology — which allows a fast connection between devices without requiring a hotspot.

LG Optimus Q2 Specs

  • Android Gingerbread 2.3
  • 1.2GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor
  • 4-inch IPS LCD display (800 x 480)
  • 5-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • Wi-Fi Direct technology
  • Slide-out QWERTY keyboard

The biggest downside to the Optimus Q2, for me, is that rear-facing camera. While 5-megapixel cameras will shoot some pretty impressive pictures, the latest generation of cutting-edge Android smartphones are starting to boast 8-megapixel cameras.

Surprisingly, the Optimus Q2 is still thinner than its predecessor despite that slide-out keyboard: The device is just 12.3mm thick, and it weighs in at just 147g.

Will you be looking forward to the LG Optimus Q2?
