If there's one characteristic most smartphones owners crave, it's a sleek, narrow, beautiful screen for displaying content. Portrait view has become the norm over the past couple years, not just in the realm of smartphones, with RIM's QWERTY BlackBerry line being the only exception. So seeing this oddity from LG is certainly an unusual change of pace. Known as the Optimus Vu, the rebels over at the Korean company went crazy and equipped this 5-inch device with a 4:3 aspect ratio screen.

Unearthed by the folks over at Engadget, the Vu will reportedly come with Android 2.3 that LG "suggests is more comfortable to hold than traditional portrait-based solutions." Spec-wise, Datacider, who provided an in-the-wild shot, claims the handset will come with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 SoC, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, NFC and 8 megapixel camera.

In addition, the shot provided by Datacider shows a February 21 teaser, which may be a hint for a possible announcement from LG. What peculiar operations does LG have of its sleeve? Guess we'll have to wait until February 21 to find out. There's not much else to glean from the above video or photo below, but we'll find out soon enough about what's afoot from LG.
