It's official, LG's G6 + is going on sale in korea next month, following Samsung's steps with releasing a 6GB of RAM Galaxy S8 variant in South Korea. The upgraded version of the G6 is packing many enhancements, some of them are coming to the G6 in a software update.
The LG G6 U.S. model did pack Qi wireless charging but lacked the 32 bit HiFi dac where it's the other way round in Korea where the G6 did include the 32 Bit dac without Qi Charging and the G6+ is here to fix this.
The G6+ packs 6GB of RAM, that's two more from the G6's 4GB of memory, 128 GB of storage, Qi charging and new color options. The new G6+ will be available in Optical Astro Black, Optical Terra Gold and Optical Marine Blue. LG says that the new color options feature a layer of lenticular film at the back, giving them the ability to refract light and deliver an optical effect.
The new variant runs the same Android 7.0 Nougat with LG's UX on top, In addition, LG also announced that a new security feature is coming to G6 and G6+ in a software update later in July, FacePrint will allow you to unlock your G6 using facial recognition. LG claims that this will allow you to unlock your phone in under 1 second.
Other software changes include the Low Power Consumption mode that will further increase your battery life and a new Covered Lens Warning feature that will warn you if the phone detects that your finger is on the camera sensor.
In addition, LG also announced a third G6 variant coming with 32GB storage and 4GB of RAM with a reduced price, where the base model comes in 64 GB of storage. We believe that users would appreciate the lower cost model since expandable storage is supported on the G6.
The Plus variant is launching in Korea for now. While we hope that the G6+ reaches the U.S. as we know how many fans want to get their hands on that HiFi 32Bit dac.
We are glad that LG is adding new features to all three G6 variants with its software updates. Are you an LG G6 user? what do you think of the upcoming update and new features?
