We’ve been served seconds, thirds, fourths and fifths, yet the endless buffet of G3 leaks still hasn’t stopped. Despite seeing an official promo, press pictures and even confirmation straight from LG, the superphone still has yet to see the light of day—an event is still scheduled for Tuesday, May 27 of next week. Until the official unveiling comes, we’ve been sent a series of press renders from an anonymous source further displaying the device’s new design, tweaked rear buttons, and set of colors. It’s a handsome looking handset, one that we quite frankly can’t wait to test out.
Here’s what we know, straight from an alleged private event held by LG from earlier this week: the LG G3 will sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD (538 ppi) display, Android 4.4, 3000mAh battery, 13-megapixel camera with OIS, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The handset will come in black, white and gold, and also sport a new laser autofocus feature that promises to ensure the best possible picture quality.
For all intents and purposes, the announcement has already been taken care of given the frequency of leaks. But LG still has an opportunity to surprise us with its Android skin, which is supposedly flatter and less intrusive then we’ve seen in the past. One of the new features will reportedly be a Selfie Mode, though beyond that is anyone’s guess. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a retail G3 popup on video before next week’s announcement, but until then we can only speculate.
Compared to devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8), the G3 is shaping up to be a real competitor, and one of the best-looking devices to ever hit the market. Much of the focus will be on that Quad HD screen, and I can’t wait to see it in person. LG will have our full attention next Tuesday, even despite the copious leaks. Until then, you can check out these pictures and further ogle the device’s lovely chassis.
