LG CX2 - front

Despite nothing new on the 3D phone front in some time, it seems the idea hasn’t died off quite yet.

PocketNow has gotten some info on the upcoming LG CX2, which may also be called the  LG Optimus 3D 2.  While a few things are changing between generations, it doesn’t appear to be all that much.

According to the sources, the 8GB internal memory and 21 Mbps HSPA radio are staying the same, as is the dual 5 megapixel camera on the back.  The screen is said to keep the same dimensions and resolutions, but will be changing to a NOVA display for a brighter screen, but will apparently have a significant difference between 2D and 3D display modes.  The biggest changes will see the processor get bumped up from 1GHz to 1.2GHz, but it will maintain its dual-core status, and the handset will slim down from 12mm to just under 10mm.  In the realm of a totally new addition, the sources stated that  will be an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip coming along for the ride this time around.

We still haven’t seen 3D exactly tearing up the mobile space, and things have been distinctly quiet after several were announced in rapid succession, it appears that at least LG isn’t quite ready to give up on the concept.

Do you still have any interest in 3D-capable smartphones?
