Mobile World Congress is just around the corner, however, LG has decided to go ahead and take the wraps off its newest 5-inch smartphone: The LG Vu.

Set to go head-to-head against that other giant smartphone the Galaxy Note, the Vu has a 1024 x 768 pixel screen, 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and 8-megapixel forward-facing and 1.3-megapixel rear-facing camera, and comes rocking a 2,080mAh battery. Much like the Galaxy Note, the phone will also come with a stylus for jotting note or drawing fancy pictures on the device.

Unfortunately the handset going to launch running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, however, LG says that it is already working on an update for the phone to bring it up to Android 4.0.

The LG Vu is expected to launch in Korea in March. No word on specific pricing or international release dates.
