Lenovo announced a few new smartphones during the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, but the one that caught our eye was the high-end Vibe Z, the first 4G LTE smartphone from Lenovo that will retail for about $549 unlocked when it hits the market next month.

We really liked the vibrant 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, and we were super surprised by how light it felt despite the huge display. It’s made out of plastic, though Lenovo added a cloth-like etching on the back that gives it a more premium feel. The phone’s quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor was definitely zippy, and the 13-megapixel camera seemed to take decent shots. We also really liked the 5-megapixel front-facing wide-angle camera, which captures a ton of content in one image. Lenovo also added unique software features to the camera that allows you to tweak faces (like how skinny or fat they are) and more.

Lenovo says that it’s working to break into the U.S. market, but that there aren’t any plans to bring the Vibe Z here right now. Hopefully you’ll be able to find it unlocked from third-party retailers, however.
