Microsoft-Secret-Surface-Event-Jon-Rettinger-Hands-OnMicrosoft's Surface is nearly upon us. In a little over two months, the company will unleash what may potentially be a huge shift not only for the market, but for Microsoft. Manufacturers have already voiced their displeasure at the Redmond company's plan. But Lenovo? Cool as a cucumber.

Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing, while not particularly pleased with the upcoming Surface, said the device isn't a threat. "We are providing much better hardware than our competitors, including Microsoft," Yuanqing said. "They are strong in software. But I don't believe they can provide the best hardware in the world. Lenovo can."

Yuanqing went on to suggest the Surface will be viewed as nothing more than competition, and that it is not a reason to reconsider its own product lineup. Microsoft is taking a huge risk with its upcoming tab, especially if its priced at the rumored $200 price point; it's affect on partners and the industry could be far reaching. However, not everyone is convinced Microsoft's decision is a good one. All eyes, ours included, will be on the device during the busy holiday season.
