Warning! This post contains spoilers about the ending for The Last of Us. If you do not wish to have it ruined for you, click at your own risk.

Naughty Dog is celebrating the date September 26, 2013 with loud trumpets and fanfare. What is so special about this date, well it is the day that the Cordyceps outbreak first occurs in The Last of Us and infects millions of American brains throughout the country.

As a gift to all of its fans, as if The Last of Us wasn't already enough, Naughty Dog has posted a motion captured performance "alternative" version of the game's widely discussed climactic scene.

Joel enters the operation room and takes a doctor hostage to save Ellie from a surgery that will kill her. Fireflies leader Marelene bursts in and tries to convince Joel that this is for the best, only this time, there is a bit of a twist.

Check out the alternative ending for yourself. I don't want to spoil it by writing, but I think we can all agree that we are glad they stuck with the version put in the game.
