Kyocera DuraPlus for SprintSprint on Wednesday announced the March 11 availability of the rugged, rubber encased Kyocera DuraPlus, a phone so tough Chuck Norris is afraid to use it. Harkening back to simpler times when design was an afterthought, the DuraPlus come certified to Military Standard 810G, meaning this puppy is resistant to dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, low pressure, solar radiation, salt fog and water depths of up to a meter. See if your haughty smartphone can handle those conditions. In addition, the device features an embedded LED Flashlight with dedicated button for manly cave exploration, a remote speaker microphone jack and an external charging port for use with a single or multi-bay charging station. Kyocera said the charging station would be useful to businesses with shift workers, such as shuttle drivers or security personnel, but we know the company really meant the option was designed for the cast of the Expendables 2. If you want to be the toughest cell phone owner around, the DuraPlus will retail at just $69.99, meaning the rest of your cash could be spent toward wrestling bears and catching alligators.
