After posting big financial losses in 2012, Konami is looking to seriously turn around its recent misfortunes with a strong showing from all of its biggest franchises.
Naturally, this means Konami is going to be bringing out Hideo Kojima on stage to tease us with more information on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which is making its E3 debut. The series has always dominated the E3 venues, so expect no less from it here.
Gamers are hungry for more Metal Gear Solid, and Konami knows it.
With all the excitement surrounding The Phantom Pain, it might be easy to overlook Konami's other traditionally popular series, Castlevania. Mercury Steam has proven to be one of the more successful Japanese/Western partnerships over the years after the team successfully rebooted the series in 2010 with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
The world waits to see if they can pull it off again in Lords of Shadow 2.
Kei Matsuda will of course show up to talk about Pro Evolution Soccer, and Konami has also promised a "wealth of new titles" to back up its three heavy hitters.
The air date for this Konami Event will be June 6th at 2 p.m. EST. The event can be seen live through Konami Events, on Gamespot, or through the Gamespot app on Xbox Live. E3 will further show off Konami's line-up from June 11th-15th.
Of all the Japanese giants, Konami is in the best position to steal the spotlight. They understand the importance of resting their franchises, have given each of them enough vacation time to become desirable again, and are going all out this year.
I'm excited, but I would be even happier if they decide to go through with Suikoden 6. Here's to hoping.
