Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has responded to reports claiming that his latest game, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, takes only two hours to beat. Let’s see what kind of twisted explanation he can cook up for this one. Actually, it’s rather straight forward.
Kojima took to his Twitter account to address the issue. He doesn’t feel you grasp the openness of this game, really. How many times must he cryptically spell it out?
Essentially, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is not about running through the game’s story mode, but rather about replaying and exploring what the open world has to offer. It’s Skyrim after being given a Metal Gear Solid paint job and scrunched into a playing field a microscopic fraction of the size.
Ground Zeroes is all about the freedom to approach a situation to match your style or experiment with the game’s new mechanics. Two hours might be the game’s story length, but playing the side ops, trial records, competing with other players, and just goofing around should add more to the playing time. Take this time to get used to the real game, so you are ready when the main game comes out.
You know, just like the free Metal Gear Solid 2: Son’s of Liberty demo, or pretty much any free demo these days.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be released on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on March 18.
