A familiar face returns in the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, though you’ll have to watch it (or scroll through the gallery) to see who I’m talking about.
After the events of the first film, the Kingsman have been exposed, putting a target on the organization’s back. As you can see, it’s not exactly safe for the remaining members to stay in England, forcing Eggsy and his crew to flee to the U.S.
They then team up with the Statesman, the U.S. version of the Kingsman, which includes Jeff Daniels, Channing Tatum, and Halle Berry, the latter of whom runs tech support; she’s essentially the Statesman version of Merlin, who is played by Mark Strong.
According to the movie’s official synopsis, the new bad guy of the franchise is Poppy (Julianne Moore), “a notorious criminal mastermind and member of the secret new world order group ‘The Golden Circle.’”
Rounding out the cast is Vinnie Jones, Sophie Cookson, Pedro Pascal, and Elton John, who will apparently be playing himself.
Based on the trailer, the sequel will be just as stylish as the first, which is good news because the first movie was a surprise hit. The only bad news is we still have to wait until September 22 until Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theaters.
