Instead of releasing a third film in the styling Kingsman franchise, director Matthew Vaughn has decided to make a prequel.
Titled The King's Man, the movie goes back to the early 1900s where the Duke of Oxford (Ralph Fiennes) attempts to stop some of history's worst villains from starting a world war.
The teaser trailer is just as stylish and evocative as Vaughn's other Kingsman films, with an even more vintage slant. Rather than being in present day, The King's Man will take audiences back through history when villains like Rasputin terrorized the world.
Throughout the teaser, a voiceover from Fiennes helps tell how a band of misfits formed what would be known as the Kingsman.
"Throughout time, our people robbed, lied, and killed, until one day we found ourselves noblemen," Fiennes says. "But that nobility never came from chivalry. It came from being tough and ruthless. Real power is not found running after war. Real power lies in understanding who it is you're truly fighting and how they can be defeated."
The King's Man features an ensemble cast, including Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, Liam Neeson, Daniel Brühl, Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Djimon Hounsou. The film hits theaters on February 14, 2020.
