Kingdom Hearts III

Not that the actor is goofy, or anything. He just plays the character. Hopefully Bill Farmer is not just being goofy now, because he has started up a firestorm of a rumor claiming that Square Enix will be releasing Kingdom Hearts III far sooner than anybody would have guessed. This year, in fact!

In a series of Twitter posts, Farmer, who plays Goofy in all the Kingdom Hearts games and Disney cartoons, claims that as far as he knows, Kingdom Hearts III will be released before the end of 2015. Square Enix told him as much, he claims. He had been working on his lines for quite some time, and he has also wrapped up all work on the game as well.

Many of the Twitter posts have since been deleted, but the Internet never forgets. NeoGAF users captured them and posted them online. On Farmer's account, the posts have been replaced with something far more official and PR looking that doesn't confirm or deny anything. Take from that what you will.

As much as I'd love to believe Farmer, I'll join the skeptics on this one. Unless Kingdom Hearts III has been in development for far longer than we've believed, Square Enix has been adamant in saying that the game isn't close to being finished. Add to that, the game was part of Square Enix's massive director shuffle earlier in September, and it also changed engines to support Unreal 4 since then. All signs pointing to a game that isn't close to being done.

If Kingdom Hearts III comes out in 2015, I'll be very surprised. Pleasantly surprised, but surprised nonetheless.
