Killer is Dead is finally being released in Japan this week, meaning the American release date is only one month away.
Grasshopper Manufacture’s latest hack ‘n slash game scored solid reviews this last week, and it’s priming up to be the perfect ending to a relatively quiet summer.
If there is one thing that can be said about the development phase of Killer is Dead, it’s that Grasshopper Manufacture has been overly generous with the trailers and screenshots, releasing new batches on a seemingly weekly basis. Not to break with tradition, the team has one more from Japan before the official launch.
If you’ve been following our coverage of Killer is Dead, then you know what to expect. Scantily clad women, flashy neon graphics, a mixture of sword and gun play and hulking mechanical monstrosities. Nothing surprises me anymore about this game, and I just accept it all as normal.
Suda 51’s reputation as a rebel Japanese game developer has really been solidified over the course of this console cycle, so I’m more than pleased to see him close out the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by bringing unique sense of style to a game that can appeal to beyond his fanbase. Hack ‘n slash games need a serious kick to get restarted, and this could be the game to do it.
Killer is Dead is launching on Aug. 27 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
