With Mighty No. 9 all wrapped up, Keiji Inafune is ready to take his indie company Comcept into a bright and lucrative future. It has already scored a deal with Microsoft to create the tantalizing ReCore, but that is not the only project he has taken on. On the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter page, Comcept in collaboration with Studio 4°C has just teased a new game called Red Ash: The Indelible Legend.

And boy oh boy does it look like Mega Man Legends. I mean, just look at the middle character! That’s totally Teisel Bonne!

Mega Man Legends Teisel Bonne

And you thought Mighty No. 9’s Beck borrow a little too much from Mega Man’s design? And the full title, Red Ash: The Indelible Legend, borrows plenty of words from “Mega Man Legends” and “Rockman Dash,” the Japanese title. Red Ash, “re-Dash?” Okay, those are stretches, but there is no getting over that character design.

Whatever it is, we won’t have to wait long to find out. More information will be made available on July 4 at the Anime Expo in the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Now what in the world could this be…?

Well…whatever it is, we decided to give our backers a special first look at it!

If you want to know more, you are all just going to have to wait until Independence Day to find out!

We can’t say anything more until then, but we think you get the idea. Please share this video with all your friends, and help spread the word!

Color me intrigued. Hopefully, Comcept is throwing together a resume to pick up the pieces of Mega Man Legends 3 development, but that kind of wishful thinking is a little beyond the realm of possibility at this point. I don’t know if the kind of creative spirit that made those games exists in the gaming industry anymore.

It’s worth pointing out though that Capcom itself has created a “spiritual successor” to Mega Man Legends already, and it as called E.X. Troopers. It might be a spin-off title of the Lost Planet games, but it looks, plays, and has a lot more in common with the PlayStation classics.

Studio 4°C has a healthy resume of games that includes Catherine, Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, Rogue Galaxy, and Asura’s Wrath.
