Want to use Apple’s CarPlay in your current car? JVC’s CarPlay Receiver is now available for purchase, bringing the powerful software to older vehicles for just $599.95. That’s not exactly a budget-friendly purchase, but it’s a lot less expensive than buying a new car.
The KW-V820BT, which was unveiled earlier this year at CES, packs a resistive-touch 6.8-inch WVGA display. It also offers two USB ports, Bluetooth, rear camera output and can connect to the rear seat displays in your car. Beyond CarPlay, it features standalone apps for Spotify and Pandora, a radio tuner and the ability to play local FLAC and WAV audio files.
Apple’s software makes it easy to control the music, use Apple Maps, answer a phone call and listen to podcasts while driving thanks to simple touch controls and Siri support. It also supports plenty of popular third party apps like Audible, NPR One, CBS Radio and more.
JVC isn’t selling its CarPlay Receiver directly, but you can order one from its retail partner Crutchfield via the source link below.
