Jon Rubinstein

Jon Rubinstein, who once served as the CEO of Palm before moving internally at HP, has joined the board of Qualcomm, the company announced on Monday. Rubinstein's experience in the mobile industry is incredibly deep, though he has since moved on from HP. He's been called the father of the iPod because he helped lead the team that worked on the popular media player during his tenure at Apple, and was also a key figure behind the now defunct webOS mobile operating system.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Jon as a member of Qualcomm's Board of Directors," Qualcomm chairman and CEO Dr. Paul E. Jacobs said. "His experience in creating revolutionary consumer electronics and mobile products will provide added insight to Qualcomm's board as we continue to expand the scope and impact of wireless products and technology, improving and enhancing people's lives around the world."

Rubinstein is also on the board of Amazon and is somewhat famous for his love to vacation at his house in Mexico.
