It looks as though Apple had to sacrifice some size this year to get new features such as wireless charging into the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.

According to a trusted and reliable source, the ‘s’ series iPhones this year are going to be slightly bigger in every dimension. Here is how they break down compared to last year’s models, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

iPhone 7 iPhone 7s
Height  138.3  138.44
Width  67.1 67.26
Depth 7.1 7.21
iPhone 7 Plus  iPhone 7s Plus
 Height 158.2 158.37
 Width  77.9 78.1
 Depth  7.3 7.41

We are of course talking size differences that the vast majority of consumers won’t even notice, but it is intriguing nonetheless.

With wireless charging said to be coming to every iPhone model this year, that would make for more technology Apple needs to cram into its devices, so it makes sense the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus would need a bit more room. However, with Apple’s well-known obsession for wanting to keep its devices thin, this couldn’t have been an easy decision for the company to reach.

It certainly won’t change the number of phones Apple sells this year, but always remember there’s a trade-off when you’re looking for even more technology to be placed in a tiny device body. The iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are sure to still be worthy upgrades.

The Apple event is said to currently be scheduled for Sept. 12, so we don’t have too long to wait to find out if these numbers are true. Our feeling is there definitely will be slightly larger models this year.
