Essential first entered our lexicon just a few short months ago with the introduction of the Essential Phone. It offers the basics in a gorgeous package of ceramic, titanium and glass. Even Android is stripped down to its pure essence with zero add-ons. Needless to say, it’s a cool device.
Apple is the polar opposite of Essential, and the newly announced iPhone X follows suit. It is jam-packed with crazy tech like Face ID and touch gestures, along with an operating system designed specifically for the hardware. The design was revamped with no home button, a glass back and 5.8-inch OLED display. It is Apple’s first big-time iPhone announcement in a long time.
It’s too early to make an informed opinion of which device is better, but judging from early looks, the iPhone X bests the newbie in just about every category that matters—with the most important being the camera.
