The iPhone X Plus will ship with a display much larger than what we’ve seen before but maintain a compact overall size, according to Mac Otakara.
Apple is developing the new model with a 6.5-inch display; however, the footprint will match that of the iPhone 8 Plus launched last year. The iPhone 8 Plus, by the way, has a 5.5-inch display. In order to achieve a large display in a compact body, Apple will use an edge-to-edge display with slim bezels similar to the iPhone X.
More screen real estate isn’t the only advantage you’ll get from the iPhone X Plus. The report suggests there will be a 3300mAh battery inside. If that turns out to be true, the iPhone X Plus will have the largest iPhone battery ever.
Having a massive battery will require this new iPhone to be slightly thicker, though. Adding 0.2mm to the thickness is, in addition to the battery, a stronger dual-camera setup.
iOS 12 is going to be pre-installed on the iPhone X Plus, which isn’t any surprise. Apple is set to announce the latest version of iOS next month at WWDC 2018, and then it’ll start rolling out in the fall. The report from Mac Otakara does add that Face ID should support landscape mode, and thus the iPad Pro (2018) is likely to include the TrueDepth system as well.
While the iPhone X Plus and the second-generation iPhone X will have custom OLED panels, Apple is also expected to launch an iPhone with a 6.1-inch display based on LCD technology. All three iPhone models should debut in September.
