Apple’s soon-to-be-announced iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are flagships, but there will also be a budget-friendly iPhone that doesn’t cost quite as much.
The 6.1-inch model should serve as a direct successor to last year’s iPhone 8. It’ll have an LCD panel for its edge-to-edge screen while an OLED panel takes up a residency on the 5.8- and 6.5-inch models. Aside from making for a slight difference in appearance, the LCD panel keeps at least one iPhone on the more affordable side.
In a new leak, the budget-friendly iPhone gets revealed in various colors. SlashLeaks spotted the set of photos and shared them with the world ahead of Apple’s announcement.
The iPhone in these photos doesn’t have a bland style despite its presumably lower price tag. From the leak, we see it could be sold in as many as four colors. It’s shown in red, white, blue, and pink. None of them are eye-popping, but they’re attractive nonetheless. Apple knows how to make simple colors more stylish than expected.
Many of those colors were mentioned in analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s report two months ago. He said the 6.1-inch model will be offered in red, white, blue, grey, and orange. While pink wasn’t named in the report and the latest leak doesn’t show grey or blue, those colors could still arrive at launch or even in 2019.
By the way, some insiders think Apple will label this model as the ‘iPhone 9’ in an effort to maintain continuity for the traditional series. It isn’t expected to have ‘iPhone XS’ branding.
The major hardware-focused event isn’t too far off. Apple will announce the new iPhone models, as well as new iPad Pro and Apple Watch models, next week. It’ll all go down on Wednesday, September 12.
