Yesterday, during its iPhone 7 announcement, Apple said it took “courage” to bail on the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7.

It didn’t entirely ditch the headphone jack, perhaps knowing that some folks may still need one if they’re listening to music while charging. That’s why it’s also selling the iPhone Lightning Dock, which you see above.

The funny thing here is that the dock actually has a 3.5mm headphone jack so that users can play music while also charging their iPhone. I guess there’s still a need to keep it around, isn’t there? I imagine Apple could have just as easily used a second Lightning port here if it really felt the analog option was dead.

This is all too silly, isn’t it?
