It wasn’t the best kept secret around—we actually had a dummy unit in our office months ahead of the announcement—but the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is finally official. We got to spend some time with it at Apple’s event last week, so we’re relatively familiar with the experience and form factor. But now that we have a retail model of our own, and we’re here to do our customary unboxing.

The iPhone 6 sports a 4.7-inch display, Apple’s new A8 processor, an 8-megapixel camera with digital image stabilization, and a 1810mAh battery, which is just a small step above the iPhone 5s.

The design of the iPhone 6 is stunning, with beautifully rounded edges that taper perfectly with the device’s screen. It makes swiping much smoother and natural; the size of the device isn’t too big, and actually feels like this is what the size of the iPhone should have been all along. Coming up from the 4-inch iPhone 5s, the difference is definitely noticeable, but not to the point where the device feels foreign; definitely not as drastic as the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.

Check out our iPhone 6 unboxing to see the device in the flesh, and stay tuned for much more coverage throughout the day, including first impressions, camera samples and more.
