Apple still hasn’t revealed how much RAM it packed into the larger iPhone 6 Plus, but a new leak suggests the 5.5-inch handset could offer the same 1GB of RAM found in the smaller iPhone 6 and the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. Today’s rumor comes from a screenshot allegedly captured by iOS monitoring app System Status and posted to Korean online forum Ruliweb.
According to System Status, the iPhone 6 Plus offers 965.6MB of RAM, though we’ll round that up to 1GB. That’s a far cry from the 2GB of memory some people were hoping to get from Apple’s new phablet. Then again, considering that Apple designs pretty much every piece of hardware in the iPhone, we’re guessing the iPhone 6 Plus will still run perfectly well. After all, if the larger phone really needed more RAM it would come with more RAM.
For now this is just a rumor though, and until the iPhone 6 Plus hits stores on Friday, when someone will no doubt open it up with a screwdriver, there’s no way to know for sure. We wouldn’t be surprised to find just 1GB of RAM in Apple’s phablet but there may be more hiding under the hood. After all, the iPhone 6 Plus features OIS, a bigger battery and a sharper screen. So why not add more memory too?
