Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus-6

Apple is now selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus unlocked and SIM-free in the U.S., more than three months after the handsets made their initial debuts. Prices start at $649 for the 16GB iPhone 6, while its bigger brother will cost you $100 more.

Rumors that started circulating on Monday promised that unlocked iPhones were incoming, and this morning they were made available via the Apple Online Store. Customers in other countries have been able to buy them unlocked since launch day, of course, but Apple makes U.S. residents wait.

Unlocked iPhones come without a SIM card, but can be activated on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon. You will have to wait a little longer for them to be delivered, though; while subsidized handsets are currently shipping in 1 business day, unlocked models take 3-5.

Here's what you'll pay for each variant:

  • iPhone 6 (16GB) — $649
  • iPhone 6 (64GB) — $749
  • iPhone 6 (128GB) — $849
  • iPhone 6 Plus (16GB) — $749
  • iPhone 6 Plus (64GB) — $849
  • iPhone 6 Plus (128GB) — $949

If you don't want to wait for your new iPhone to be delivered to your door, you should also be able to pick up both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus unlocked at your local Apple retail store.
