Apple’s iPhone day is tomorrow, and it’s shaping up to be a big shift in company strategy. Rather than focusing on one hero device—the iPhone 5S—the company could also release a handset that’s more affordable for consumers across the globe—something not always associated with Apple. How will that affect the company’s position among the mobile elite? Some people expect the one-two combo of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C to result in Apple’s most successful launch ever. No pressure.

Aside from the two devices we’ve seen countless times up until now, Apple could also unveil a new software update to the Apple TV, and maybe even a slight update to its MacBook Pro line, although that could be more of a quiet upgrade. The real focus will be on the iPhone 5S, how it improves over last year’s model (fingerprint scanner, more colors and a faster chip are all rumored), and the iPhone 5C (polycarbonate materials, similar specs to the iPhone 5, etc.) If we’ve learned anything over the years, is that there will be a lot to consume during tomorrow’s jamboree.

We should also get a definitive release for iOS 7 and Mavericks, though don’t expect any iPad news—yet. With Jony Ive now in control of Apple’s software destiny, iOS 7 is a humongous change for the company. No longer does it rely on analog cues to help people along; the OS is now dominated by flattened layers and fancy animations. Apple has been preparing its corps of employees leading up to tomorrow’s event, no doubt to account for the software’s change—that’s how big of a release iOS 7 will be.

Sept. 10 will be hugely important for Apple for a number of reasons. For the first time ever, the company could make a real impact on the Chinese market by signing a deal with China Mobile, and the added colors to its more premium iPhone 5S could incite interest in those who prefer more choice. Don’t want black or white? How about champagne or graphite? Or go for the iPhone 5C’s rainbow of choices.

If you need a refresher on what to expect at tomorrow’s event, there’s certainly no shortage of rumors and reports. There are even speculation swirling already about what Apple has planned next year. Rumors never stop—they never will. What are you looking forward to most, and what do you expect to see? I’m hoping Apple does something really cool with that fingerprint scanner.
