iPhone 5 - Black - BezelAnother report is pegging the iPhone for a September or early October release. According to Japanese blog Macotakara, citing reliable sources within Apple's supply chain, the company's next big handset has already gone into production, corroborating a similar Wall Street Journal claim.

It was reported yesterday that Apple could be aiming to reveal the iPhone 5 as early as August 7, with availability coming a month or so after the announcement. It doesn't sound too far-fetched, considering we basically know what the device is going to look like, and we saw what was alleged to be an engineering model for production purposes.

Earlier this year, Macotakara reported that the iPad 3 went into production in January, which gave Apple a lead time of two months (the new iPad was released in March). If a similar timeframe is applied to the iPhone 5, we may see the device in just a couple short months — perhaps in an attempt to stave of wandering iPhone owners from jumping over to the Galaxy S III.

We're edging closer to an expected release. We just need confirmation from Tim Cook and Co. so we can get on with speculating about the next, next iPhone.
