iPhone-4s-tn1It may be no iPhone 5, but that hasn’t stopped the iPhone 4S from becoming Apple’s fastest-selling iPhone yet. In a press release today, Apple claims to have sold one million of the iPhone 4S during its first 24 hours on the market (temporarily selling out of the handset online). In contrast, the company only sold 600,000 iPhone 4 units during its first 24 hours.

“We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”

Preorders of the iPhone 4S are already sold out online, however, Apple will be getting some stock in its stores to sell on launch day October 14th starting at 8am.

If you have your heart set on a particular model and carrier, then you better get to your local Apple early. While the iPhone 4S is capable of working on GSM and CDMA networks, the models available in Apple stores will all be carrier locked. That means if you want a 16GB white iPhone 4S on Sprint, they won’t be able to sell you a 16GB white phone meant for AT&T.

How many of you pre-ordering the iPhone 4S? Are any of you planning to hit the Apple Store on Friday?
