Apple is planning on releasing three new iPhones in 2019, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. The report claims each model would be a successor to the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max with key improvements such as a triple-lens camera reserved for the high end model.

According the report, the iPhone XR will be upgraded to a new dual-lens camera and possibly even an OLED display to replace the LCD panel it currently uses. The iPhone XS successor would see minimal upgrades with no major hardware updates other than bringing its processor and camera up to par.

The iPhone XS Max successor is where Apple would add the major new features. It will be the flagship iPhone in the line up and will include a triple-lens camera. The third lens would add the functionality of advanced 3D sensing and improved optical zoom.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard Apple is going to release three new iPhones in 2019. Last year, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted the iPhone lineup would include three models.

Interestingly, one of the most polarizing details that came of the report is that every new 2019 iPhone may come without 3D Touch. That again confirms previous reports that state Apple would move away from the technology in 2019.
