The iPad Pro may be due for an upgrade but, until now, we haven’t heard much about the second-generation 12.9-inch tablet. That’s about the change, though, with the first alleged leaked photos making the rounds online.

The images were sent to AppleInsider from an anonymous source, so we’d definitely treat them with a grain of salt. They appear to show an early prototype and ara reportedly directly from a Chinese supplier.

The leaker also reveals an alleged model number: MH1C2CD/F. That sounds like a potential follow-up to the original 12.9-inch iPad Pro (ML0G2LL/A, or ML0G2LL/A for the cellular version). There’s no way to confirm the new model number, though, and it would be relatively easy to fake.

A few other details gleaned from the photo suggest this is a very early production model. The device only sports 12GB of storage, which would be just enough to test out iOS and a few other Apple apps. It’s also running the latest iOS 10 beta.

We still don’t know much about the second-generation iPad Pro, and this leak doesn’t reveal any new hardware or an upgraded design. You can probably expect an A10X chip based on Apple’s typical upgrade cycle. The Apple Pencil may also be due for an update, and the company seems to have some interesting ideas based on recently published patents.

With mass production expected to kick off in late September it could be a while before we get a better look at the new iPad Pro, but we’ll keep an eye out for any more info in the meantime.
