ipad air release time apple store

Apple updated its website today to announce that the iPad Air will go on sale at 8 a.m. on November 1 at the company’s retail stores. Like with the iPhone 5s, it looks like the company won’t offer customers the option to order the new tablet online until 12:01 a.m. Pacific time that day.

The iPad Air features the same 9.7-inch Retina display as the now-discontinued iPad 4, but comes in a significantly slimmer and lighter design at 7.5mm thin and weighing just one pound. It’s also equipped with the company’s new A7 64-bit processor and M7 co-processor introduced with the iPhone 5s, as well as a 5-megapixel iSight camera and a 1080p front-facing camera. The 16GB iPad Air starts at $499 from Apple, though Walmart will offer it for $20 less.

Apple’s website doesn’t state when the new iPad mini with Retina will hit stores. Recent reports suggest the 7.9-inch slate could see supply constraints leading into the holiday season as the company’s partners struggle to manufacture Retina displays needed for the smaller tablets, so don’t expect to pick up a copy of the new iPad mini until a little later in November at the earliest.
