PlayStation Indie Store

All three console developers have been claiming to be the most "indie friendly" of the bunch, but it's kind of hard to do so when your digital distribution network doesn't have a direct link to them. The Xbox 360 has been selling indie developed titles for quite some time, and the Nintendo Wii U eShop has had a channel dedicated to them as well. What about the PlayStation 3?

Sony has finally decided to get in on the action and create its own indie games section for the PlayStation Store. The category will bunch each of the indie developed games available on the PSN in one convenient place.

"This category builds on the support that PlayStation has offered independent developers in the effort to highlight some of the most unique gaming experiences on PlayStation platforms."

Sony has also launched a sale to mark the occasion. Retro City Rampage will be 50% off for all gamers. Papa and Yo will come bundled with its soundtrack, and it will be discounted at 40% (55% for PlayStation Plus subscribers.) Zombie Tycoon II will round out the sale by going free for PlayStation Plus users.

The sale will last until May 21st. Other popular and quality titles, such as Journey, Guacamelee and The Unfinished Swan, will also be promoted in this new section of the store.
