Disney this past weekend announced a new "immersive super hero experience" coming to Disney California Adventure park, building on the runaway success of Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT!
Few details were shared about what to expect from these upcoming attractions—Disney only said the Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers, with new stories to build on the Mission: BREAKOUT! ride.
Disney and Marvel have already said its Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction is a separate universe away from the MCU, so it would seem the new immersive experiences will expand on Disney's in-park world. (A little confusing, I know.)
For example, you might be able to check out the Mission: BREAKOUT! ride and the story will continue with an attraction featuring Spider-Man. Then, the story could culminate with something that features the entire Avengers gang in one story.
With Mission: BREAKOUT! and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge—the latter of which will be completed by 2019—Disney is clearly going all-out with its properties. Not to mention, Disney already has a Cars Land—who knows how these attractions will be expanded down the line.
If its Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction is a barometer for the kind of quality we'll get from these new experiences, then fans are in for a treat. I, for one, am very excited. But the cynical side of me wonders how Disney can accommodate the influx of visitors.
In any case, Disney didn't reveal when these new experiences will open, though we assume these attractions will open upon the completion of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which will debut in 2019.
