ustream

I can't say I cover Ustream that closely, but I was surprised by news on Thursday that IBM has officially acquired the service.

Ustream, if you're unfamiliar, provides cloud-based live-streaming services and is home to all sorts of content from recorded video podcasts to press conferences and concerts. It's used by corporations and Joe Consumer alike.

"Video has become a first-class data type in business that requires accelerated performance and powerful analytics that allows clients to extract meaningful insights," said Robert LeBlanc, Senior Vice President, IBM Cloud. Ustream will exist in IBM's "Cloud Video Services' unit.

Neither Lenovo nor Ustream provided details on the sale price, though it appears the service will continue to operate normally for the foreseeable future.
