The Huawei Watch series might be revived sooner than anyone expected. Huawei should announce its new smartwatch later this month, according to WinFuture.
A few years ago, the Chinese company rolled out the original model. The Huawei Watch earned positive reviews, but its successor never made an impact on anyone. Still, there wasn’t a moment in which Huawei gave up on wearables. Over the last year, it remained committed to the category and promised to re-enter with a flagship smartwatch in the future.
Now we understand what Huawei’s impending plan consists of.
Roland Quandt, the mobile industry insider who’s been on a hot streak lately, shared some information on the upcoming Huawei Watch GT. It’ll be offered in two styles, and there will be plenty of next-generation features. High-end specifications are likely standard between both.
In the photo, we’re looking at the Classic/Fashion style. Quandt suggests there will be a Sport style joining it, but he didn’t obtain a photo of it yet. Regardless, both styles are set to have water resistance as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a compass, a pressure sensor, and an accelerometer.
Even though there are different styles, the Huawei Watch GT will have digital coaching available across the board. It’ll leverage a GPS, too.
The Huawei GT has two side-mounted buttons to the right of the 1.39-inch OLED display. Inside, there’s a Snapdragon 3100 from Qualcomm. We have to assume Google’s Wear OS lives here. From all the hardware and software optimizations, the 420mAh battery should run for up to 14 days. Just keep in mind that could be for a low-power mode that limits usability.
As for pricing, the smartwatch could arrive for anywhere from $220 to $265. That’d be a welcome addition to this space as most smartwatches are on the expensive side.
Huawei has a launch event scheduled for October 16, and that’s also where the Huawei Watch GT could makes its global debut.
