Huawei is expected to unveil its flagship Mate 8 smartphone next month, but before then the company could announce another device next week. The Chinese giant is apparently sending out invitations for an Honor event on August 10, according to GizChina.
The invitation doesn’t offer many details besides the date and the word “Honor.” There’s also that big exclamation mark, suggesting something exciting is on the way. What could it be? We have a few ideas.
GizChina points to a recent TENAA filing from Huawei for a new Honor device with an interesting design. The phone’s rear and front-facing camera are connected to a single module that pops up above the top of the frame. It’s unclear what purpose this will serve, though you’ll apparently have to raise the camera module before snapping a selfie.
If Huawei really does announce a new phone next week we’re guessing it will be the Honor 7 Plus. The device is expected to feature a metal design, a fingerprint reader, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, one of Huawei’s own Kirin processors, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
Of course these are just rumors, but we may not have to wait much longer for an official look at Huawei’s next Honor smartphone.
